What is a weighted blanket?

in About Weighted Blankets

A weighted blanket at Cozy Calm, is a blanket of two layers made heavy with medical-grade plastic beads.  The inner liner is filled with the beads and sewn at intervals.  The outer layer is attached.

A weighted blanket gives sensory input on the body, which in turn acts on the central nervous system to give a feeling of calm and sleepiness.  It is not for holding a person down because even though the blanket is heavy, a person can lift up the edge of the blanket to get up like one would with a comforter.

Our weighted blankets come in different weights depending on what weight a person needs.  See our weight chart for more information.  If you are unsure what weight you need, contact us at 763-533-6125 or at atyourservice@cozycalm.com

People use weighted blankets for a number of conditions with the most common being autism, sensory processing disorder (SPD), PTSD, anxiety, fibromyalgia, and insomnia.
